Chief Information Officer
Cohen Veterans Bioscience

Dr. Lee Lancashire is a seasoned expert in machine learning and statistics, with more than two decades of experience. He earned his PhD by specializing in the development of artificial neural network-based methodologies and was involved in many of the first applications of neural nets to high-dimensional bioinformatics datasets.

Before taking on his current position, Dr. Lancashire spent over five years at Thomson Reuters' IP & Science division, where he led the machine learning and statistical data analysis team. In this role, he managed and delivered analytical projects for an international clientele, which included the majority of the top 10 pharmaceutical companies, as well as government, academic, and non-profit organizations. His projects centered on employing cutting-edge machine learning techniques for molecular profiling of diseases, with the aim of discovering biomarkers, stratifying patients, and identifying drug targets.

Following his PhD, Dr. Lancashire completed post-doctoral research in Biostatistics and Bioinformatics at the Paterson Institute for Cancer Research, a core facility of Cancer Research UK. He further honed his skills as a bioinformatics project lead at personalized medicine and diagnostics companies CompanDX and Almac Diagnostics.

Dr. Lancashire has published over 40 articles in prominent industry journals and holds multiple patents related to the use of neural networks in the biomedical sector. Outside of his professional pursuits, he is dedicated to giving back to the community, volunteering as a trustee for the Ichthyosis Support Group, a charity assisting individuals and families affected by a range of rare skin disorders.
