A demonstration of an open source software prototype for improving infection control in hospitals called Smart Infection Control System (SmICS). It provides services for tracing contacts between patients, showing in-depth details for microbiological findings, patients movements and wards and offers epidemiological curves without having a vendor-dependent data storage within the application, because it is fully based upon an open interoperability standard (openEHR).

Att gå i pension utan att vara förberedd för den stora omställningen som pension innebär kan medföra hälsorisker. Ett arbete kan bidra med många hälsoaspekter för en människa. Förutom lön så kan arbete ge fysisk och psykisk stimulans, mening och syfte samt dagliga rutiner. Allt i en social kontext. Om detta inte ersätts så finns risk för ensamhet, isolering, stillasittande och förlorad känsla av sammanhang. Kända riskfaktorer för flera sjukdomar. Här har arbetsgivaren en chans att påverka samhället positivt samtidigt som de ökar sin konkurrenskraft!

Patienter har svårigheter att förstå vårdtermer, komplex vårdinformation och förutom detta har vi patientgrupper som har språkbarriärer och andra kommunikationsbarriärer på grund av kognitiva eller funktionsnedsättningar. Detta kan leder till missförstånd som kan leda till en sämre vård. Samhället debatterar tillgången till tolk och andra kommunikationsresurser men kanske vi borde titta på hur medicinsk teknik idag kommer att stödja säker och kostnadseffektiv patient kommunikation.

This study has the overall aim to study physicians’ experiences of VCs, here focusing on their suggestions for future improvements. Twenty-two semi-structured interviews were performed with physicians working for an online healthcare provider in Sweden, and analyzed through inductive content analysis. Two themes emerged related to desired future improvements of VCs; blended care and technical innovation.

Use of international standards is increasingly relevant for national e-health development. The international standardization organizations strengthen their cooperation and work targeted on common functional areas. At the same time, the EU is strengthening its work for the common use of standards in Europe. In order to achieve a faster development of solutions using the standards that affect us, the Nordic countries have strengthened their cooperation on standardization through the Nordic Council of Ministers' work on e-health.
