Women's health technology (femtech) is a burgeoning industry that seeks to develop personalized health solutions for individuals identifying as female. From menstruation and maternal healthcare to longevity and chronic care platforms, the global femtech market is anticipated to be worth over $50 billion by 2025. Yet, most digital health companies entering the femtech market fail to prioritize three crucial aspects to their products and businesses: (i) accuracy, (ii) privacy and security, and (iii) scalability. This presentation provides a roadmap to the key legal and ethical challenges facing women's health companies, and offers solutions to ensure these companies build robust and internationally scalable businesses that are capable of driving long-term innovation in women's health.

Every year, several million triages are performed in Sweden to evaluate and prioritize patients' medical needs. In the past, these assessments were conducted solely over the phone or at primary care centers, without any means of systematic evaluation. However, a groundbreaking shift is underway as Sweden digitizes its triage process, revolutionizing one of the most crucial processes in healthcare. Now, for the first time ever, patients' questions, responses, and advice can be analyzed systematically. The implications for patient safety and equity are profound, and it is essential to consider how this transformation affects vulnerable groups, such as the elderly and frail, who may not have access to digital tools. Join Jonathan Ilicki on a journey beyond the ordinary and gain unique insights into the pivotal role of triage in coordinating healthcare. Discover how digitization is transforming healthcare delivery in Sweden and shaping the future of medical care.

Digital interventions can have beneficial effects on our health and prescribing digital therapies is not in the distant future - for use in institutions and at home. While the benefits are encouraging for patients, next-of-kin, healthcare personnel and institutions, we need a deeper understanding of the nature of digital interventions that are powered by sensors, algorithms and apps. The understanding should help us answer questions like how we verify the clinical benefits of the therapies or if health systems have the expertise, regulations, organisational roles and health economic arrangements in place to adopt digital therapies. This talk reports on some initiatives in Scandinavia and Germany that address the development, testing, regulation and procurement of digital interventions. As a backdrop, the talk uses discussions in the Health Data Innovation Council (https://healthdatainnovation.eu) to highlight different aspects of data-driven health interventions and the implications across the continuum of care (prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and palliative care), health technology life cycle (design, testing, commercialization and operations) and oversight (approval, certification and regulation).

It is an obvious paradox that we as citizens, present in all clinical health encounters, lack tools to take full advantage of ongoing digital transformation in health care. In this panel we will discuss user needs and design of digital tool to improve access to personally relevant health information from trusted sources. Of special interest is adherence to treatment. The attendees can learn about opportunities to “collect, curate and control” relevant, personal health information, and digital services for personal health data and access trustworthy, up-to-date information that better meet situated, everyday needs.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a developmental disability caused by differences in the brain regions. Analysis of differential expression (DE) of transcriptomic data allows for genome-wide analysis of gene expression changes related to ASD. De-novo mutations may play a vital role in ASD, but the list of genes involved is still far from complete. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) are treated as candidate biomarkers and a small set of DEGs might be identified as biomarkers using either biological knowledge or data-driven approaches like machine learning and statistical analysis. In this study, we employed a machine learning-based approach to identify the differential gene expression between ASD and Typical Development (TD). The gene expression data of 15 ASD and 15 TD were obtained from NCBI GEO database. Initially, we extracted the data and used a standard pipeline to preprocess the data. Further, Random Forest (RF) was used to discriminate genes between ASD and TD. We identified the top 10 prominent differential genes and compared them with the statistical test results. Our results show that the proposed RF model yields 5-fold cross-validation accuracy, sensitivity and specificity of 96.67%. Further, we obtained precision and F-measure scores of 97.5% and 96.57%, respectively. Moreover, we found 34 unique DEG chromosomal locations having influential contributions in identifying ASD from TD. We have also identified chr3:113322718-113322659 as the most significant contributing chromosomal location in discriminating ASD and TD. Our machine learning-based method of refining DE analysis is promising for finding biomarkers from gene expression profiles and prioritizing DEGs. Moreover, our study reported top-10 gene signatures for ASD may facilitate the development of reliable diagnosis and prognosis biomarkers for screening ASD.Keywords: Gene expression data, NCBI, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Random Forest, Statistical test
