A safe and reliable flow of information is indispensable for nursing. Its role is particularly emphasised in mobile care, such as preliminary home care or home hospital care. Inefficient information flow poses a threat to patient safety and continuity of care. What measures can be taken to support the flow of information?

Industry players, the for-profit organizations, are important stakeholders in global and European health and care systems. The profiles of these industry actors vary, as do their business models, resulting in diverse expectations and requirements when it comes to EU regulations in this domain. In this session, we aim to analyze the motivating and demotivating factors that influence industry players' engagement in adopting the upcoming European Health Data Space proposal. We will explore the impact on solution providers specializing in primary data usage, Electronic Health Records and Clinical decision support vendors. Additionally, we will examine the impact on the downstream market, particularly organizations investing long-term in clinical research. Furthermore, we will strive to determine whether industry representatives should actively participate in the EHDS implementation process or simply comply with the legislation once it comes into effect.

Healthcare longitudinal data offers endless opportunities such as diagnostics, and prognostics, to care personalization and improving healthcare quality and efficiency. These can be achieved through Artificial Intelligence (AI), data science, and in specific machine learning (ML). However, lack of inscrutability of the AI/ML-based techniques has hampered pervasive AI in healthcare systems. In this talk, we will introduce graph-based approaches for collecting, storing, visualizing, analyzing, and modeling healthcare data, and discuss how they outperform the other available approaches. We will also discuss challenges around health data and how synthetic data can mitigate them.

In this session, we will present an overview of a study about the use of IoT in schools. We engaged with IoT experts to discuss how IoT-based solutions could help to improve the health and well-being of students, teachers, and other school staff. We present the main themes that surfaced in expert interviews, containing ideas on how IoT could help fulfill the needs and requirements of school personnel and students.

To introduce regional implementation of technologies and digital services for well-being, ageing and care of older people at home in Finland in a governmental programme called ‘Smart Ageing and Care at Home’ (‘KATI’ for the Finnish Acronym) in 2020-2022. Technologies were acquired according to regional needs by usual procurement. In the workshop we present evaluation results and the Finnish model to implement technologies for ageing and care of older people at home (the KATI model). It was developed based on the experiences from the renewed service models in the regional projects. The model also includes the technology solutions that the regional projects integrated into their services. The participants will get knowledge about well-working service models, how technologies have been implemented successfully in the Satakunta Wellbeing Services County, as well as remaining challenges to be overcome. We will discuss with the participants how the model can be used in other regions. We and the participants will share experiences on implementing technology in home care services. We will present national plan for continuous collaboration and Finnish healthtech network for wellbeing services counties. Participants can share their expectations, possibilities and contributions to share good practices, and for international collaboration. They can also ask question about the Suvanto Care solution that was implemented in the Satakunta Wellbeing Services County. We expect discussion and feedback from participants of the KATI model and national coordination model.

Artificial intelligence (AI) can potentially contribute to solutions to some of the major challenges facing healthcare systems around the world. However, the development of new AI applications does not guarantee that they will be routinely used in clinical practice. It is well established in implementation and innovation research that the introduction of new technology is associated with various forms of obstacles and resistance. This contributes to delayed and variable application and a high risk of losing the potential value they can bring to the healthcare system in terms of quality, safety, accessibility and optimization. In this presentation, we provide an overview of state of the art regarding the implementation of AI applications in healthcare today. We also suggest ways forward, how to develop successful strategies for implementation and work structured with implementation processes.
