The Nordic region is a strong market for digital health, due to the advanced healthcare systems, technological infrastructure and culture of innovation. With a focus on innovation, prevention, precision medicine and a strong research ecosystem, the Nordics offer fertile ground for digital health solutions to improve healthcare delivery, empower patients, and address the growing burden of chronic diseases. This session is a great opportunity to get to know the Nordic healthcare systems and their possibilities, challenges and why the Nordic market is a great fit for you!

FHIR is changing the health IT landscape in many countries. Governments, care providers, healthtech companies and insurance companies are adopting FHIR to achieve affordable and accessible care, care quality and better outcomes, and efficient cross-institutional information exchange. Rien will explain for a non-technical audience what FHIR is, why it is relevant for anyone in the industry and how stakeholders are driving the adoption in a few example countries.

This presentation offers a perspective to some of the successes and failures in the Finnish ecosystem for sharing health data over the last 10 years.

Digital Health investments have significantly dropped from the peak of 2021. Many founders face challenges in fundraising, and there is an increase in internal bridge rounds. What does the global digital health investment landscape look like? How are the Nordic countries doing?

The traditional DOME (https://domeconsortium.org/) session this year will focus on presenting results from the NORDeHEALTH research project (https://nordehealth.eu/), where we have studied national patient portals and patients online record access in Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Estonia. Maria Hägglund (PI for the project) will give a short introduction to the project and describe the importance of and challenges to comparing national eHealth systems. 

How can we ensure that the ever-increasing amount of data in hospitals does not overload the backups, and that they can still be stored safely and without loss for many years to come?

In the NORDeHEALTH project, we benchmarked the usability of Estonian, Finnish, Norwegian, and Swedish patient portals offering patients online access to their electronic health records (EHR). In this presentation, Sari Kujala from Aalto University will tell us more about the results. Which country had the best System Usability Score? What were the most positive and negative experiences across countries? 

Explore the world of Digital Therapeutics (DTx) in the presentation, "DTx: From Concept to Market." I'll cover key aspects such as cost considerations, time-to-market strategies, regulatory compliance (including MDR), technology challenges, and European reimbursement schemes. The audience will gain insights to navigate the DTx landscape efficiently and effectively. 

In this presentation, we will compare patients who have received mental healthcare's experiences of having online record access (ORA) between Sweden, Finland, Norway, and Estonia. Psychiatric records online are offered to patients in all four countries, and provide the same functionality and similar psychiatry information. The results presented in this talk are based on the NORDeHEALTH 2022 Patient survey consisting of 45 questions, including demographic variables and questions related to users' experiences with ORA. We will focus on the questions concerning positive experiences (benefits), negative experiences (errors, omissions, offence), and breaches of security and privacy.

This presentation highlights the variety in policies for minors’ and guardian online access to minors’ electronic health records, comparing four Nordic countries (Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Estonia).

Medical device security is all about patient safety, a need we all recognize; it is a responsibility we all share; and it is a challenge that we need to face together.In this session, we will discuss how medical device manufacturers can support healthcare providers in securing their operating environment. We will share insight into the industry-standard ways-of-working in medical device cybersecurity. And we will explore how we can better work together to protect the safety of our patients.

Nowadays, patient-centred care is increasingly recognized as essential for effective healthcare delivery- Sweden, Finland, Norway and Estonia have been at the forefront of embracing patient input as a cornerstone of their health information management strategies. We studied with Finnish, Norwegian, and Swedish colleagues how people in different countries use patient-accessible health records and what their wishes and preferences are. Throughout this session, we will explore the innovative approaches  to incorporate patient-generated data into their health records systems. 

Following the presentations of research from the NORDeHEALTH project we proceed with the benchmarking battle! We will present a number of identified differences in functionality and content of the national patient accessible electronic health records in Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Estonia - and let audience decide which version is best!
