Strategies for healthcare digitalization – what if the ¨what¨ continues to overshadow the ¨why¨, ¨who¨ and ¨how¨?
Peter Daneryd
Thursday May 16, 2024 13:00 - 14:00 F1
Workshops och fördjupningar, English, On site only, Presentation, Tools for implementation, Intermediate, Management/decision makers, Politicians, Organizational development, Purchasers/acquisitions/eco nomy/HR, Technicians/IT/Developers, Care professionals, Healthcare professionals, Patient/user organizations, Actual examples (good/bad), Benefits/effects, Management, Innovation/research
Crafting a strategy might be difficult, but even more so to deploy and execute, especially when culture is being challenged. Successful digitalization requires a strategy update and cultural change, aligning the two. The everyday dialogue on healthcare digitalization is dominated by topics from the ¨what¨ domain, but more focus should be on the “why”, “who”, and “how” issues. Successful digitalization in the world of VUCA requires a redefined more agile and flexible leadership, mastering applied improvement science beyond “mainstream change management thinking” of today. An unmet need of today that needs to be met tomorrow.

The aim of this session is to share lessons and insights on both implementation and use of health data. What can we learn from each other and what should be coordinated now that half of Sweden is changing EHR systems? What needs to be done nationally? What will be the next step?

Interoperability , English, Pre-recorded + On-site, Presentation, Inspiration, Introductory, Management/decision makers, Politicians, Organizational development, Benefits/effects, Education (verification), Management, Innovation/research, Follow-up/Report of current status
Norway, Sweden and Finland may be considered as forerunners in adopting openEHR and moving towards open ecosystems. Cross-organizational data sharing has historically been the objective in all Nordic countries. The needs to share data resulted in national document-based data sharing infrastructures in all Nordic countries. That was, however, somewhat limited and the need for complementary structured sharing has started to emerge. In the Nordics the dominant EHR market leaders chose openEHR as their own data model and started to modernize their solutions as their own internal decision. The Nordic experience shows that in order to build a true ecosystem, it is important to increase awareness among all stakeholders. This lecture discusses the Nordic drivers, benefits and challenges of openEHR as well as the ways how you can make the openEHR project successful.
