To introduce regional implementation of technologies and digital services for well-being, ageing and care of older people at home in Finland in a governmental programme called ‘Smart Ageing and Care at Home’ (‘KATI’ for the Finnish Acronym) in 2020-2022. Technologies were acquired according to regional needs by usual procurement. In the workshop we present evaluation results and the Finnish model to implement technologies for ageing and care of older people at home (the KATI model). It was developed based on the experiences from the renewed service models in the regional projects. The model also includes the technology solutions that the regional projects integrated into their services. The participants will get knowledge about well-working service models, how technologies have been implemented successfully in the Satakunta Wellbeing Services County, as well as remaining challenges to be overcome. We will discuss with the participants how the model can be used in other regions. We and the participants will share experiences on implementing technology in home care services. We will present national plan for continuous collaboration and Finnish healthtech network for wellbeing services counties. Participants can share their expectations, possibilities and contributions to share good practices, and for international collaboration. They can also ask question about the Suvanto Care solution that was implemented in the Satakunta Wellbeing Services County. We expect discussion and feedback from participants of the KATI model and national coordination model.

Norway, Denmark, Finland and Sweden are all working on solutions to achieve national common drug lists. There are great similarities between the countries when it comes to digital information management around medicines. For many years, everyone has had e-prescriptions and a central storage location for these. However, there are significant differences between the systems in use or about to be implemented in the four countries. In the presentation, researchers from the various countries give an overview of the current situation in the four countries, as well as share their reflections on challenges. The presentation is held in English.

Electronic health record (EHR) systems have faced criticism and debate as these systems can be complex and difficult for users to navigate, particularly for those who are not trained in their use. This can lead to errors and inefficiencies, negatively impacting patient care and user satisfaction.By contextualizing criticism and transforming it into constructive feedback, system developers can gain valuable insights and use this feedback to make reasonable improvements. Transforming criticism into constructive feedback requires contextual understanding for helping to identify specific areas where improvements may be needed. In this presentation, some typical examples are given about acquiring more concrete and actionable feedback on situations where users have been disappointed or when they felt that something could be working in a better way.One of the key benefits of contextual user feedback is that it allows healthcare organizations to gather a wide range of perspectives on the EHR system to prioritize improvements. Systematic collection of user feedback also helps organizations to identify areas where additional training or support may be needed.

The integration of design thinking into medical informatics education is essential for development of innovative and effective health information technologies in our work domain. Design thinking is a problem-solving approach which focuses on understanding complex user needs and creating innovative solutions befitting those complex needs. It is a widely used approach for developing user-centered products and services, and distils creative methodologies to improve usability and effectiveness of health information systems.
This workshop discusses use cases for design thinking in medical informatics education, provides an overview of the lessons learned of incorporating design thinking into the curriculum, and will challenge the audience to experiment with two of the design thinking phases. The workshop also outlines the implications of design thinking for medical informatics educators, students and our work field, and provides suggestions for incorporating design thinking into existing medical informatics programs.

Remote Patient Monitoring is a crucial tool to create benefits for the patients, the providers and the payer. Yet there are several barriers on an international level that prevents the wider use of the technology, where reimbursement is still one of them. Boston Scientific has worked together with KOL's, patient organizations as well as trade organizations in trying to help solve the reimbursement. Our Health Economy and Market Access (HEMA) department acrosss Europe has managed be a valued partner in the development of reimbursement guidelines for RPM. Please join us in sharing our journey and our insights.

NORDeHEALTH: Usability of national patient portals in Finland, Estonia, Norway, and SwedenNordic countries have been forerunners while having patient portals already for a decade. However, it is still important to improve usability for getting more benefits and also to help other countries develop their eHealth services. There hasn’t been a similar international comparison as we have now with our international patient survey. We’ll share international and local benefits and challenges regarding the usability of national patient portals in Finland, Estonia, Norway, and Sweden.
