We share our experiences and suggestions from translating the ContSys, i.e., ISO 13940:2015 System of Concepts to Support Continuity of Care. All chapters were translated into Estonian and published as a national standard in February 2023.

Having finished the Vinnova project on diabetes and moved on to the system demonstrators and CRANE PCP project, we give an update on the MyData operators and Web3 technologies in Healthcare, the formation of nxd.foundation and its governance.

Delivery of nursing terminology in the digital age is essential to the provision of safe nursing care at a global, national and local level. The provision is fundamental to the delivery of multi-disciplinary care, where nursing information is critical. The requirement is therefore to ensure that clinical terminology in EHR systems is clinically correct, up to date and available for use. The formal collaboration between the International Council of Nurses (ICN) and SNOMED International seeks to deliver these aspirations, with an ongoing commitment to ensure the alignment of ICNP (International Classification of Nursing Practice) and SNOMED CT. The collaboration will provided clinically ensured nursing terminology within EHRs and that the data is available to support nursing research globally.

Join Andraž Koželj, Senior Technical Lead at Better and a certified openEHR educator, at the deep dive into the world of openEHR, where he will show the core technical elements of openEHR and the openEHR architecture, where data is separated from the applications. He will explain how data is stored in the openEHR repository, and what the clinical data documents look like. 

Norway, Sweden and Finland may be considered as forerunners in adopting openEHR and moving towards open ecosystems. Cross-organizational data sharing has historically been the objective in all Nordic countries. The needs to share data resulted in national document-based data sharing infrastructures in all Nordic countries. That was, however, somewhat limited and the need for complementary structured sharing has started to emerge. In the Nordics the dominant EHR market leaders chose openEHR as their own data model and started to modernize their solutions as their own internal decision. The Nordic experience shows that in order to build a true ecosystem, it is important to increase awareness among all stakeholders. This lecture discusses the Nordic drivers, benefits and challenges of openEHR as well as the ways how you can make the openEHR project successful.

The International patient Summary (IPS) is an extract of an electronic health record containing essential healthcare information to support cross-border and unscheduled patient care. The IPS also has the potential to be used in many other scenarios where a patient crosses health information systems, like travel between provinces/states, cities or organizations that use a different Health Information System. The implementation and support for the IPS comes from a commitment by the G7 and Global Digital Health Partnership. International standards organisations have come together to deliver on this commitment, with SNOMED International providing the free global set of clinical terms to support it's implementation. The development and expansion of the use of the IPS and the SNOMED free set is making a real difference to cross border care globally, and to interoperability specifically

HL7 Europe has created guidelines for opening access to health data to patient-facing apps. These guidelines propose practical and prioritized steps towards a rich ecosystem of apps that empower patients in becoming more active participants in their own health care, while guaranteeing safety.

This session presents ongoing work to harmonize the FHIR base profiles of different Nordic countries to create a common Nordic FHIR Base profile specification.

As the demand for sharing healthcare data continues to grow, it is important to ensure constant data flow within the hospitals and beyond with the help of innovative solutions and state-of-the-art technology. 

Annual presentation of what's happening with HL7 FHIR standard in the Nordics and how it has been applied in real world.

FHIR is changing the health IT landscape in many countries. Governments, care providers, healthtech companies and insurance companies are adopting FHIR to achieve affordable and accessible care, care quality and better outcomes, and efficient cross-institutional information exchange. Rien will explain for a non-technical audience what FHIR is, why it is relevant for anyone in the industry and how stakeholders are driving the adoption in a few example countries.
