In this workshop we will explore the meaning of person-centred cultures and the evidence-base underpinning the significance of culture in sustaining person-centred care.  Person-centred cultures are critical to the development and sustaining of care practices for all persons that are collaborative, inclusive and participative.

In this workshop I will introduce the basic principles of realist evaluation and encourage you to ‘think like a realist’.  The workshop will consider why realist methods are useful in evaluating complex interventions and provide an overview of key concepts in realist evaluation, including context, mechanism and outcome configurations.  Using small group work, you will be asked to apply realist thinking to some examples.  We will also discuss how realist interviews are different from traditional qualitative interviews.Register for workshop at: https://gcpcc.org/pre-conference-workshops/

The workshop agenda has been co-designed with a group of 14 people from various backgrounds and countries. We are looking forward to engaging discussions regarding best practices for public involvement in health research and healthcare governance!

You will also have the possibility to participate in an interactive method lab workshop with students and lecturers/teachers from HDK-Valand – Academy of Art and Design.

A patient perspective on the benefits of having health data freely accessible.

Mental health problems are one of the main causes of sick leave.More than 50% will be diagnosed with a mental illness or disorder at some point in their lifetime.Only 1 in 8 adults with a mental health problem are currently getting any kind of treatment.This session explores the dynamic landscape of mental health technology, featuring perspectives from both Sweden and the USA. This unique opportunity will facilitate a cross-cultural exchange of innovative ideas and approaches in the realm of mental health tech. By bringing together experts from these two nations, we aim to gain valuable insights into the diverse strategies employed to address mental health challenges. This session promises to be a rich and collaborative exploration, fostering a deeper understanding of the global efforts to leverage technology for mental well-being.

This project addresses the challenges associated with complex surgeries and extensive patient care tasks, utilizing a digital, AI-enhanced virtual companion. The aim is to empower patients in self-management by guiding them through their care path, providing access to health information, monitoring vital signs, ensuring appointment adherence, and facilitating comprehension of medical documents. The introduction of a real AI healthcare professional further enhances patient engagement, offering personalized support based on individual needs. 

This presentation highlights connected mental health interventions, with a focus on biofeedback-based interventions, designed to facilitate self-management of individuals' mental health.

The Nordic Council of Ministers' standardisation group for eHealth focuses on standardisation, and one of the tasks for 2023–2025 is to contribute to and ensure that the Reducing Clinician Burden (RCB) initiative is taken into account in standardisation work in the Nordic countries.

CareMatrix is an innovative project addressing the challenges of multimorbidity in aging populations, impacting over 50 million Europeans. It advocates a shift from traditional, diagnosis-specific healthcare towards an integrated, patient-centered approach. Focusing on interoperability of digital health systems, CareMatrix leverages Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance care quality and efficiency. The initiative, supported by Horizon 2020, involves key partners developing the INCA Solution - a digital platform for coordinated care management. INCA integrates patient data, supports shared care plans, and features a multidisciplinary approach, placing patients at the heart of healthcare. 

Artificial intelligence-based (AI-based) language analysis is undergoing a “paradigm shift” initiated by new machine learning models, large language models, leading to unprecedented accuracies over most computerized language processing tasks such as web search, automatic machine translation, and automatic question answering. The success of the large language models is mostly attributed to their capability to numerically represent words in their context, long a weakness of popular psychological research techniques that use “bag-of-words” or word count approaches. Large language models can enable psychological language analysis to quantify the meaning behind words and human language in its larger context and thus capture truer psychological states and traits of the person behind the words. We discuss evidence showing that AI's paradigm shift to large language models is the missing piece for a parallel transformation in mental health assessment from the strong reliance on rating scale responses to more accurate, fine-grained, and ecologically valid assessments by fully leveraging patients’ own descriptions. We believe that this is an essential step in a more data-driven healthcare. 

Emfit’s CEO Heikki Räisänen introduces EMFIT CARE, a cloud-connected sensor installed under a bed mattress. Based on heart and body movement analysis it provides real-time data and alerts for streamlining tasks, reducing stress, and empowering staff to proactively address residents' needs.

This presentation offers a succinct exploration of cybersecurity integration in medical device manufacturing. It emphasizes the importance of embedding cybersecurity from the design phase, guided by the principles in IEC 81001-5-1. We will navigate through the various international regulatory landscapes, including the EU's MDR, U.S. FDA guidelines, and Japan's cybersecurity framework, highlighting their convergence with IEC 81001-5-1. The presentation emphasizes proactive, continuous cybersecurity measures in the evolving medical device sector that is faced with increasingly sophisticated threats.

In many ways, Sweden was early in its abilities to share data between caregivers and regions. These abilities are mainly achieved through the infrastructure provided by the regions and municipalities infrastructure, which has entailed certain limitations on the national government´s ability to govern, prioritize and take responsibility for the national and international perspective. In recent years the government has increased its efforts, for instance through various assignments to governmental authorities such as the E-health agency.

The landscape of healthcare is rapidly evolving, with patient safety and the efficiency of patient monitoring gaining increased importance. Traditional spot-based patient surveillance methods have notable limitations, and there is substantial documentation on the benefits of more continuous monitoring approaches. Vitalthings, a Norwegian health technology company, is at the forefront of this evolution, developing contactless monitoring solutions that significantly enhance patient safety, operational efficiency, and overall cost-effectiveness. Dr. Thu will elaborate on how the continuous data harvested by this system serves as a foundation for future research and the development of AI models. This shift towards more proactive healthcare modalities, empowered by enhanced patient and staff safety, paves the way for the integration of AI into predictive medicine.
