Track: The European Health Data Space; a health specific ecosystem
Between April and November 2023, EIT Health organised a series of 11 roundtable discussions across Europe, bringing together experts and stakeholders from across the public health, healthcare, and health data ecosystems. Roundtable events focusing on the feasibility of implementing the EHDS were held in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Ireland, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden. In addition, interviews were held at Member State level to gain more in-depth understanding with key stakeholders.
Participants discussed individual countries’ readiness for the EHDS under six dimensions of implementation: Governance, Capacity and skills, Resources and funding, Data quality, Closing the loop: The relation between primary and secondary use, and Awareness, education and communication: Towards a data-driven culture in healthcare.
The final EIT Health Think Tank report will be launched in March-April 2024 and aims to provide an overview of EU member states’ readiness to adopt the European Health Data Space regulation, identifying key challenges and enablers of implementation within individual countries and offering practical recommendations for the actors who will be responsible for leading the transformation at local, national and EU levels to ensure a harmonised and inclusive European approach.
The presentation will summarize the key recommendations and findings on a European level.
