Mental Health - a Human Right Left Behind Passed
Friday November 24, 2023 15:00 - 15:30 CET Lila scenen
Lecturer: Marie Dahl
Marie Dahl from Sweden is the Director of a worldwide renowned global resource center on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support in Copenhagen and will present some of the main mental health-related challenges and opportunities in the global perspective. There are strong links between mental ill health and poverty as a result of inadequate realisation of human rights such as the right to work in just and favourable conditions, the right to social protection and physical and mental well-being; and the right to education and cultural freedom. Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) addresses both the need for prevention and promotion of mental health and psychosocial well-being, as well as accessible, quality care of mental health conditions across the world.
Action is needed in the rapidly emerging global mental health crisis. Mental health is essential to secure the well-being, overall health and life-quality of children, youth, families and communities, as well as for the peace and prosperity of our societies. Mental health is closely linked with the achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, particularly Goal 3, Good Health and Well-being.
