Återigen har kvinnor blivit en "bargaining chip" i det politiska spelet kring Afghanistan utan att de blir tillfrågade själva. Det är som om kvinnornas krav att deras rättigheter skall respekteras ock tillgodoses är orsaken till att talibanerna och landet har hamnat i kris. Bisarrt!
Både de som bor i städerna som kanske haft möjlighet att utbilda sig, har eller har haft jobb och kanske en viss ekonomisk trygghet och de som bor på landsbygden (och i städerna) som inte haft samma förutsättningar och som kämpar från dag till dag för att överleva, de önskar alla att deras barn skall ha en bättre framtid i sitt eget land.
Alla vet att förutsättningarna för en bättre framtid för barnen är en stabil skolgång vilket i dag förvägras framföra allt för flickor från 12 års ålder.
Konsekvenser för hela landet: utbildning är ett viktigt verktyg för att stärka individer och samhället. Utan utbildning är det mer troligt att en flicka gifts bort i ung ålder och drabbas av våld i hemmet, fattigdom och hälsoproblem.
Utbildning är avgörande för ett lands utveckling och för att bryta den onda cirkeln av fattigdom. Att hälften av befolkningen utestängs från utbildning kommer att skada hela Afghanistan.
