Secondary use of health data and standardization Passed

Wednesday May 24, 2023 11:55 - 12:20 F5

Lecturers: Oskar Thunman, Sahar Amdouni

Track: Eng - European Health Data Space, EHDS

Using health data for quality monitoring, business development and for evidence-based policy work is addressed in the EHDS (European Health Data Space). EHDS proposes common European legislation to ensure access to health data for both primary and secondary use.
From a health informatics perspective, there is a palette of tools and standards that make information easier to use for statistical analysis and in the long run contribute to more data-driven ways of working.

The presentation highlights:

  • Informatics that enables secondary use of health data
  • Reference models and standards for secondary use (e.g. OMOP) and its connection to health informatics standards (e.g FHIR)
  • International examples of standardization and reference models for research data
  • How tools for secondary use of data can create benefit in healthcare organizations
