Vi vill guida er genom Läkemedelsverkets spännande innovationsstödjande verksamhet, där vi strävar efter att uppfylla vårt uppdrag att stödja den svenska life science-sektorn. Vårt fokus ligger på tre huvudaktiviteter: Information och utbildning, vetenskaplig och regulatorisk rådgivning samt implementering av regulatorisk vetenskap.

In the phase of growing pressures to improve both access and affordability of care, the obvious solution is to free up capacity by improving flow to reducing length of stay. Yet, despite significant efforts, hospitals around the world are struggling to achieve breakthrough results. The lecture presents a fresh perspective on how to solve this complex issue of in a simple manner. It tells the story of how hospitals have reached 10-20% reductions in length of stay within a matter of weeks, while being truly patient-centered and clinically led. How do we identify the typically small changes that drastically will improve patient flow through all pathways simultaneously?

This presentation explores the complexities and costs associated with implementing new systems in healthcare, focusing on the challenges of migrating patient data and maintaining interoperability between systems. It proposes a novel approach using lightweight FHIR messages and OpenEHR standards to streamline data integration and preserve the integrity of electronic patient records. By adopting these methods, healthcare providers can enhance patient care, reduce clinical risks, and facilitate research, ultimately leading to more efficient and patient-centric healthcare solutions.

Rörelsepppen är ett program i Inera:s stöd- och behandlingsplattform och stödjer barn och unga att göra en beteendeförändring för ökad fysisk aktivitet med stöd av vårdnadshavare. Programmet fokuserar på rörelse i vardagen och att begränsa stillasittandet. Det finns en interaktion mellan patient och behandlare som möjliggörs i programmet.

Sammanhållen planering är ett projekt som syftar till att utveckla översiktsvyer i 1177.se för både invånare och vårdpersonal, så att vård- och omsorgsinsatser blir mer överskådliga och koordinerade för alla som är berörda. I den fragmentiserade vården och omsorgen riskerar patienter med komplexa vårdbehov och många vårdkontakter att tvingas bli projektledare för sin egen vård. Genom att göra vårdplaner, bokade tider, egenvårdsråd, läkemedelslistor och kontaktuppgifter synliga och samlade kan patienter och närstående känna sig trygga och informerade, och fokusera på hälsa och livskvalitet. Vård- och omsorgspersonal får enkel tillgång till aktuell information och kan arbeta mer effektivt.

Vården behöver fler effektiva lösningar som hjälper patienterna till bättre hälsa. Därför går Sveriges sju universitetssjukhus med omgivande innovationskontor och inkubatorer in med sin samlade kapacitet i projektet Snabbare Implementering i Svensk Hälso- och Sjukvård (Siish). Målet är att avsevärt förkorta tiden för införandet av innovationer i vården. I presentationen får vi höra erfarenheter och lärorika resultat som hittills kommit från projektet.

I min presentation, "Stegvis utveckling av informationsdriven hälso- och sjukvård genom tillämpning av AI i Region Uppsala", kommer jag dela med mig av hur vi tänker kring AI för att förbättra och effektivisera vården. Genom praktiska exempel kommer vi att utforska AI:s roll som en central partner i vården, från att stödja patienters självhantering till att förbättra diagnos- och behandlingsplanering. Jag kommer att ta upp både möjligheterna och de olika övervägandena som följer med teknologisk innovation, med målet att inspirera till fortsatt samarbete och utveckling inom hälso- och sjukvården. En dialog runt detta är avgörande för att vi tillsammans ska kunna skapa en mer tillgänglig, effektiv och framtidssäker vårdinformationsmiljö.

The healthcare sector often utilizes various methods to track patients' conditions, symptoms, and progress. A critical aspect of this tracking is the identification and documentation of Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs), which include symptoms like nausea and drowsiness caused by medications. These ADRs, typically categorized by severity and frequency in databases, require medical professionals to meticulously connect them to specific drugs, a process that demands considerable expertise and time. Given the complexity of drug interactions and the limited time available for thorough investigation, this crucial area often remains under-explored. Artificial Intelligence (AI) emerges as a pivotal tool in addressing these challenges, offering decision support to doctors in pinpointing the causes of ADRs and facilitating swift and accurate drug follow-ups. This presentation will delve into a research study from a Master's Thesis project at Karolinska Institutet, exploring AI's potential in identifying rare ADR cases and aiding physicians in efficient medication management.

Implementing AI in healthcare safely and effectively presents a unique set of challenges. From data quality, information security, systems change, evidence generation, clinical safety and workforce transformation this session discussions the key challenges in the adoption of AI and how they might be tackled.

The landscape of healthcare is rapidly evolving, with patient safety and the efficiency of patient monitoring gaining increased importance. Traditional spot-based patient surveillance methods have notable limitations, and there is substantial documentation on the benefits of more continuous monitoring approaches. Vitalthings, a Norwegian health technology company, is at the forefront of this evolution, developing contactless monitoring solutions that significantly enhance patient safety, operational efficiency, and overall cost-effectiveness. Dr. Thu will elaborate on how the continuous data harvested by this system serves as a foundation for future research and the development of AI models. This shift towards more proactive healthcare modalities, empowered by enhanced patient and staff safety, paves the way for the integration of AI into predictive medicine.
