eHealth infrastructure in Norway - national strategy and EHDS preparations Passed
Tuesday May 14, 2024 13:10 - 13:35 F1
Lecturers: Georg F. Ranhoff, Marianne Bårtvedt van Os
Norway, like the other Nordic countries, has a fundamentally good health and care service, and has a long journey with digitalization of health services and building ehealth infrastructure. Norway was an early adopter of national e-health solutions, and solutions like our national health portal, e-prescription and summary care record are widely used, both by healthcare personnel and citizens. Traditionally Norway has been promoting and working according to international standards and we have a long history of collecting data for secondary usage.
A comprehensive eHealth development requires cooperation across the sector, and our national eHealth strategy 2023-2030 is an instrument for achieving this by setting a common direction for digitalisation in the health and care sector. The strategy supports the actors' overall responsibility for providing sustainable and equitable health and care services of good quality, while at the same time stimulating and contributing to digital transformation in the sector.
Strategically there is a good match between the goals of our national ehealth strategy and the goals of the upcoming European Health Data Space, EHDS. Several of the frameworks that will be provided in the future will come from EHDS and facilitate the fact that the Norwegian actors move more in the same direction as the rest of Europe. Nordic cooperation is important for sharing experiences.
