In the upcoming presentation titled "Medicine of the future: How and who is going to treat us?" we delve into the evolving landscape of healthcare and medical treatments. The focus is on identifying both typical and atypical factors that are currently shaping the medical field. The research is based on a three-level Delphi method involving 22 medical experts.
The presentation will kick off by discussing contemporary, unconventional trends like stress management techniques, biohacking, and medical tourism. These phenomena are largely influenced by the immediate changes brought by COVID-19 but have implications for the future as well.
Next, we'll explore technologies aimed at enhancing well-being, including value-based healthcare, smart delivery systems, and telemedicine. These are expected to influence the short-term outlook of medicine. The talk will then move on to how data-informed personalization through smart hospitals and wearable devices is expected to make significant strides in both the short and medium term. These technologies aim to tailor medical treatments and recommendations based on individual health data. A key part of the presentation will also cover the medium to long-term impacts of climate change on healthcare. Specifically, we'll look at the challenges posed by climate migrants and the move towards low-carbon healthcare solutions.
Lastly, sustainability in healthcare will be presented as an often-overlooked yet vital factor for long-term development. While there is no consensus among experts on the mass availability of advanced medical treatment and sustainable healthcare, the presentation aims to offer various viewpoints on this subject.
By the end of the presentation, attendees will gain insights into the multi-dimensional factors that will shape the future of medicine over the next five decades.
