Wednesday May 15, 2024 09:30 - 10:00 F1
Lecturer: Rien Wertheim
Track: Interoperability
FHIR is changing the health IT landscape in many countries. Governments, care providers, healthtech companies and insurance companies are adopting FHIR to achieve affordable and accessible care, care quality and better outcomes, and efficient cross-institutional information exchange. Rien will explain for a non-technical audience what FHIR is, why it is relevant for anyone in the industry and how stakeholders are driving the adoption in a few example countries.
I my presentation I will go deeper into:
- What you should know about FHIR if you are a non-technical healthcare executive or policy maker
- Why FHIR adoption is increasing globally: what is the business case for all stakeholders?
- Which countries are taking the lead?
- What is the role of the government in accelerating interoperability?
- Which regulation is already in place in various countries, including the EU?
- What are the challenges when implementing interoperability?
- How FHIR is relevant for the Nordics.
