Mental Health in the Digital World: Lessons Learned from Sweden and the USA Passed
Tuesday May 14, 2024 10:30 - 11:00 F2
Lecturers: Erica Larson, Solome Tibebu, Tiffany Boswell
Moderator: Viveka Rydell-Anderson
Track: Digital hälsa
An enlightening session to explore the dynamic landscape of mental health technology, featuring perspectives from both Sweden and the USA. Specifically, we will delve into the remarkable impact of Swedish digital health companies Mindler and Meela, which have been instrumental in revolutionizing mental health care in Sweden.
Erica Larson is the CEO of Mindler. In the Mindler app, patients access digital therapy programs (so-called iCBT programs) to work on by oneself or in combination with a therapist-led treatment. Mindler has programs focused on specific problem areas such as stress, health anxiety, panic etc.
Tiffany Boswell is co-founder of Meela. Meela has developed the first evidence-based matching system and algorithm that uses clinical metrics to calculate relational compatibility between client and therapist. Meela's matching technology personalizes mental health care by identifying what type of therapy the client needs and what therapist is most qualified and compatible to treat them. This enables us to offer women clinically the best treatment options from the start - and they have seen great results in clients staying in therapy rather than dropping out.
Solome Tibebu, founder of Going Digital: Behavioral Health Tech (GDBHT) does pioneering work in the USA. As the driving force behind the largest community dedicated to expanding access to mental health and substance abuse services through technology and innovation, Tibebu brings a wealth of insights and experience to the discussion.
The panel will be moderated by Viveka Rydell-Anderson, a lawyer with a clinical informatics masters of science degree from Stanford. She has worked in healthcare since 2006, and is passionate about bringing together lessons from across the world, in particular between Sweden, the Nordics and the USA, where she currently resides. Viveka is a serial health entrepreneur, currently the CEO of Pacific Vision Foundation which is an innovative health organization, and she is an Advisor for DAYA Ventures, a FemTech incubator. Viveka is passionate about bringing the best prevention and health to people using tech. She is the President of the Northern California chapter of the international organization Healthcare Informatics Management Systems Society (HIMSS), and a frequent speaker on podcasts and at conferences.
This session promises to be a unique opportunity to learn from the successes and challenges of these influential entities, fostering a deeper understanding of global efforts to leverage technology for mental well-being.
