Wednesday April 21, 2021 15:30 - 16:30 1 - Live från UKK
Exhibitor: Mänskliga Rättighetsdagarna
Lecturer: Lisa Pelling
Speaker: Leilani Farha
Today’s housing crisis is a human rights crisis. All over the world, we are experiencing increasing levels of homelessness, forced evictions and an alarming rate of escalating housing costs. Meanwhile, housing has become a place for the wealthy to invest excess capital instead of being treated as a basic human right.
Leilani Farha is the founder and Global Director of The Shift, a housing initiative aimed at reclaiming the right to housing. Launched in 2017, The Shift has since become a worldwide movement including cities from every continent – from Malmö to Seoul.
In this seminar, we will hear from Leilani Farha about what role The Shift plays in the fight for the right to housing as a human right, as well as what future possibilities and challenges we are facing.
