Den 22 januari 2021 förbjöds kärnvapen då FN:s konvention om kärnvapenförbud trädde i kraft. Samtidigt har 9 länder cirka 13 000 kärnvapen som kan utplåna mänskligheten flera gånger om och risken för kärnvapenkrig har ökat de senaste åren. Hur går det ihop och varför har Sverige ställt sagt nej till förbudet?
Civilsamhället hade en central roll i arbetet med att förbjuda kärnvapen och 2017 tilldelades ICAN, den globala kampanjen för avskaffandet av kärnvapen, Nobels fredspris för detta.
