Tipping points occur not only in undesirable processes, but also in desirable contexts. Whilst human activities are pushing the planet towards negative tipping points, jeopardising the very foundations of human well-being on earth, there exists viable solutions that could keep the world on track – provided there's robust support in policy, finance, and leadership for swift global implementation. Together with business leaders, policymakers and scientists we'll explore the positive tipping points on the horizon or already achieved, delving into the success factors driving these transformative moments. 

As the world grapples with the urgent and complex issue of climate change, the role of sustainable leadership has never been more critical. This panel discussion will bring together thought leaders, experts, and practitioners in the field of sustainability to explore the intersection of leadership and rapid climate action.  

The Breakthrough Agenda report 2023 concludes that even if the transition to clean energy and sustainable solutions is accelerating, global emissions are still increasing and there is a need now to deploy near zero emission technologies at scale. For steel this means that we need 70 near zero emission steel plants by 2030. What is needed to get projects off the ground and how can value-chain collaboration and policy measures support this needed acceleration? 

The session will discuss how growth, emissions reductions and economic empowerment can go hand in hand, and how successful partnerships and strategic alliances between local business communities in Sweden, the EU and globally are the main drivers of all three. 

What is the future of scope 3 emissions? We often speak to the challenges that enterprises are navigating to deliver the transition towards net zero, and seize the opportunities that lie therein. In this panel, you will hear about the solutions. How enabling technology will provide seamless exchange of carbon data. 

To achieve net zero supply chains by 2030-2050, the MASSIV+ partnership explores a cross-industry standard for turning greenhouse gas emissions data into actionable information – and thereby reduce negative impact.  

How could global food systems better sustain our planet and its people by 2040? The urgent need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve ecological conditions to sustain the planet and its growing population by 2040 is the focus of a panel discussion based on Tetra Pak's white paper. The discussion will address three critical issues and five key objectives for a more sustainable future. Stakeholders from various sectors will explore the reconfiguration of global food systems to align with ecological, social, and economic imperatives, including private sector engagement and Tetra Pak's pathways for change. 

The Blue Mediterranean Partnership (BMP) is a platform for coordinating interventions and leveraging resources to enable sustainable blue economy investments in the Mediterranean region.  The BMP seeks to increase coherence, cooperation and coordination among all stakeholders concerned to increase the impact and visibility of sustainable blue economy investments around the Mediterranean.  Today’s event will be a signing ceremony of the Blue Mediterranean Partnership (BMP), which is a key milestone towards making it operational at the start of 2024.   

Sweden has over recent years become the epicenter of impact tech, i.e. companies who based on forefront technology and science build solutions that benefit people and the planet by directly addressing global development goals. During this session, several impact tech companies together with leading representatives from Sweden’s impact tech ecosystem and beyond come together to discuss the role of impact tech to accelerate the global momentum toward a sustainable future. 

Transitioning to a circular economy reduces carbon emissions and is a powerful tool in climate mitigation efforts. Simultaneously a circular economy leads to a decreased demand for virgin raw materials and decreases the pressure on ecosystems, which in turn has a positive effect on climate adaptation efforts. This session explores how circularity offers synergies between mitigation and adaptation and demonstrates how Swedish innovations and circular business models contribute towards this goal.

This session will discuss the EU Green Deal and the impact on EU trade relations with the rest of the world. Special focus will be on how exporters in low- and middle-income countries may be affected by the climate-related EU’s Green Deal legislation.
