Sweden has an opportunity to use OMOP not only as a technical data model, but as a reusable analytics layer that supports harmonisation, federated evidence generation, and collaboration across national and international health data ecosystems. OMOP 4 Sweden is a growing movement with a clear mission—to establish the OMOP Common Data Model as a formal and sustainable part of the Swedish health data ecosystem.

Sustainable health data infrastructure depends on standards and platforms, but also an active community that shares methods, tools, and implementation experience. This session introduces the emerging OHDSI Sweden Community and discusses how a Nordic community of practice can help make OMOP operational in real-world settings.

The VALO project is developing a model for Nordic collaboration on the secondary use of health data, drawing on practical experience from federated analysis and secure processing environments. This short update highlights current progress and frames the next discussion on how the model can evolve to meet stakeholder needs

Denmark is moving toward a healthcare system in which digital solutions, health data, and secure infrastructure play an even greater role. As part of the Danish healthcare reform 2024, Digital Health Denmark is being established – a new nationwide organization designed to strengthen digital development and ensure better coherence across the healthcare system.Digital Health Denmark brings together sundhed.dk, the Danish Health Data Authority, MedCom, the National Genome Center, and a number of joint national tasks from the regions. Certain selected functions and regulatory tasks within the Danish Health Data Authority will remain within the Ministry of the Interior and Health to support work within the ministry’s area.In addition, a number of major digitalization initiatives will be carried out as part of the healthcare reform, including a preliminary analysis of a national data platform.
