Tuesday May 20, 2025 16:30 - 17:00 F1

Lecturer: Mira Helänne

Track: Data / Information

The Wellbeing Services County of Southwest Finland, one of Finland's largest service counties, is at the forefront of integrating technology into public service management. With a strong academic character and a commitment to research, the county initiates around 500 new research projects annually, spanning clinical trials, biobank studies, and registry studies.

In this presentation we will delve into the transformation journey from a cumbersome, manual, paper-based process to a streamlined, efficient electronic system using the electronic research platform. Attendees will gain insights into:

  • The Challenge Before: Understanding the limitations and inefficiencies of the previous manual process for research permit applications.
  • The Solution: Electronic Research Platform: How the implementation of the electronic research platform addressed these challenges, providing a robust, user-friendly platform for managing research permits.
  • Benefits of Using the Electronic Research Platform: The tangible improvements in efficiency, accuracy, and overall research management, such as:
    • Reduced authorisation time from 8-12 weeks to 1-2 weeks
    • Elimination of unnecessary steps and manual errors
    • Improved visibility and tracking of research projects
    • Enhanced attractiveness as a partner for sponsors, especially in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Vision for the Future: The ongoing and future enhancements planned to further support the county's research initiatives.

Join us to explore how this innovative solution is enhancing research capabilities and contributing to the advancement of healthcare and social services in Southwest Finland.
