Speakers: Lina Ploug, Fredrik Malmberg,, Christina Johnsson, Mary Lawlor, Marie Cham, John Stauffer
Moderator: Tobias Rahm

Every year, one in seven people in Sweden take action to protect human rights. But what do we actually know about the conditions they face? In this seminar, we present an overview of the current situation based on data from 100 professional and recognized human rights defenders in Sweden.

UN Special Rapporteur Mary Lawlor joins us as we reveal a troubling trend of infringements on the rights and activities of those working to uphold human rights in Sweden.

“Human rights defender” is a term used to describe people who, individually or with others, act to promote or protect human rights in a peaceful manner. Ms. Mary Lawlor, will speak and reflect on the global situation and development together with the Swedish Institute for Human Rights.
