När Svenska kyrkan under våren lämnade remissvar gällande förslaget på ett språk- och medborgarskapsprov så möttes det av kritik från olika aktörer som menade att kyrkan inte bör ägna sig åt politik. Detta är en återkommande åsikt, att kyrkan inte bör engagera sig i politiska frågor utan ska låta sig nöja med att vara kyrka, inom sina egna väggar. Under de senaste åren har vi kunnat ta del av en rad utspel där religionernas iblandning i det offentliga samhället ifrågasätts. Vad är det egentligen för syn på politik och demokrati som sådana utspel vittnar om? De stora religiösa traditionerna har alla visioner om vad som är goda mänskliga liv, dessa innefattar förstås också idéer om vad som kännetecknar ett gott samhälle. Hur kan dessa visioner förmedlas inom ramarna för ett demokratiskt samtal? Och hur kan religiösa traditioner bidra till själva förståelsen av ett demokratiskt ideal för ett pluralistiskt samhälle? Hur kan vi skapa förutsättningar för gemensamma diskussioner där religiösa och icke-religiösa medborgare kan delta på likvärdiga villkor. Välkommen till ett seminarium där förutsättningarna för en inkluderande demokratisk kultur är i centrum för samtalet.
