Wednesday April 21, 2021 15:00 - 15:30 Globala scenen
UNHCR, Swedish Organization Against Statelessness, Skrivtolkas / Har undertext
This seminar will allow interested parties to explore the right to a nationality as a fundamental right of everyone - wherever they may reside, legally or illegally - also widely seen as a gateway right to the enjoyment of other basic rights, including the right to work, education, health care, reside and return to home country. The objective of the seminar is to provide attendees with a deeper understanding of how not having a nationality hinders individuals from enjoying their very basic rights that most people take for granted and why statelessness should primarily be seen as a violation of the human right to a nationality.

Through inspirational stories we would like to invite you to an hour focused on the role that young people play in contributing to peaceful societies. This despite the fact that many young people - often due to where in the world, or in Sweden, they live - have personal experiences of violence in their local environment. Come and listen to young changemakers, from the Horn of Africa to Sweden, who choose peace instead of violence and challenge yourself by asking the question: how can I contribute to a more peaceful society where I live?
