An increasing number of surveys show that young people feel a great concern about the future, the climate threat and the development in the world. For those who want and are interested, there is a wealth of organizations, initiatives and movements to get involved in. In Sweden, involvement in civil society is one of the highest in the world. At the same time, political involvement can also mean increased vulnerability.

The challenges facing society and the world are large, complex and require long-term sustained work. In this context, how can we create long-term and sustainable activism, for ourselves and others? The author, feminist and human rights activist Audre Lorde said: "Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare." Caring for of oneself is also a prerequisite for being able to continue to caring for the causes that we care about so that we continue to burn but do not burn out.

During this mini-seminar we will talk about commitment, activism and the sustainability of ourselves and others. What does resilience mean to you? What is recovery? What inspires you to take time for self care and how can we be better at supporting each other in our commitment?

The conversation takes place in the form of a panel between representatives from various movements that are engaging in issues that require long term, sustained work with the aim of different movements learning from each other.

The panel will be moderated by Act Church of Sweden and Agera youth, the young activists network in Act Church of Sweden. The panel will be interactive and the audience will be ask to reflect on what sustainable activism mean for them.
