Friday November 15, 2019 14:30 - 16:00 Verdefoajén

Panelists: Alexandra Bousiou, Bridget Sleap
From the neglected ISIS-camp Al hol, in Syra, the Southern gate of Europe and the US and the hotspot camps in the Greek islands to the Nordic deportation centers and make shift migrant workers’ camps - refugees and migrants are subjected to multiple, severe human rights violations. In this panel we engage in a discussion of how the lack of a legal status, an unacknowledged legal status or a temporary precarious status can affect the possibility of having access to basic human rights, and the health complications of this perpetual uncertainty. Who is responsible to protect, respect and fulfil the right to health for those more than 2,6 million people living in camps today?
