National Perspectives on Healthcare AI – Trends, Infrastructure, and Cross-Sector Learning

Wednesday May 6, 2026 13:35 - 13:50 YE - lokal ej bestämd

Lecturer: Lorna Bartram

Track: Advancing Healthcare with AI from Swedish and Canadian Perspectives

AI Sweden, the national centre for applied AI, works across sectors to accelerate AI adoption in Sweden. This presentation provides a national perspective on healthcare AI, addressing broader AI trends and developments that are shaping the field – from large language models and generative AI to data infrastructure and compute resources.

The presentation explores how national initiatives and infrastructure can support regional healthcare organizations in their AI journeys, and how lessons from other sectors can be translated to healthcare contexts. AI Sweden also shares reflections from the Swedish healthcare delegation's visit to Toronto in autumn 2025, including observations on how Canada approaches national coordination of healthcare AI and potential areas for continued international collaboration.

Participants will gain insights into the broader AI landscape and how national resources and cross-sector learning can complement organization-level AI strategies.
