This immersive, multy-sensory art installation was created as part of a research project investigating how partner-creating processes are established in encounters between patients and healthcare professionals in healthcare settings. The aim of the project was to contribute to a more profound understanding of the encounter between patients and healthcare professionals in a healthcare context striving for a more person-centred care.   The following research questions served as guideline for the investigations: First, how can the theatrical arts be employed as a tool for examining what happens in patient encounters? Second, how can actors’ professional competency be used as a resource for analysing the multifaceted interplay between role and person, in both patients and healthcare professionals in this encounter? And third, how can the capacity for more person-centred care be developed using the theatrical arts as a resource?  The art installation take as its starting point the question on how exclusion operates within the context of today’s health care? Is it possible for the patient to imagine oneself anew, with the help of another?  The objectification and alienation of one’s body resulting from illness or injury is often intensified in concrete care situations, when the body is examined and understood as a malfunctioning biological thing, and furthermore diagnosed and explained in medical language. Falling ill and being in need of care can thus imply a loss of access to one’s own body and self. The art installation was created as part of a PhD study in a collaborative project between the Academy of Music and Drama and The University of Gothenburg Centre for Person-centred Care – GPCC. Methods from theatre and film practice were employed to interpret and analyse interaction between patients and professionals in clinical healthcare encounters.
