The future of hospital interaction

Wednesday May 6, 2026 15:44 - 15:48 Innovation Area

Lecturers: Hedda Borge Svinø, Magnus Lønseth

Track: Innovation area

As healthcare professionals, we’ve experienced firsthand how inefficient communication in hospitals impacts both patients and staff:

Did you know that patients in hospitals have to pull an alarm cord or ring a physical bell when they need help?

This means patients cannot communicate their actual needs, leading to interruptions, poor prioritization, and wasted time for nurses.

Pling digitizes patient requests by enabling patients to communicate their needs in detail via their smartphones, giving healthcare professionals the insight they need to prioritize tasks, reduce unnecessary walking, and deliver better care.

In our clinical observational study at Oslo University Hospital, Pling demonstrated the potential to save approximately 37 minutes per nurse per shift! This results in more efficient workflows, improved patient safety, and a more sustainable healthcare system.
