I am a Bioengineer, PhD in Bioengineering and my skills mainly concern the adoption and profiling of semantic and format standards in the medical informatics sector. Since 2012 I have been a tutor for training courses organized by HL7 Italia, since 2014 I have been R&D Director and Co-funder of Healthropy Srl, since 2018 I have been a member of the Board of Directors of HL7 Italia, first as Education and Services Manager and since 2024 as Treasurer. Since 2022 I have been an In-house Consultant of HL7 Europe for collaboration in European projects and initiatives such as X-eHealth, GATEKEEPER, IDEA4RC and Hospital On FHIR (HoF). I have written over 60 scientific publications on my research activities.
Unai Zulaika Föreläsare

Dr. Unai Zulaika Zurimendi is an Associate Researcher at DeustoTech - Deusto Institute of Technology, part of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Deusto, as well as a member of the DEUSTEK research group. He defended his doctoral thesis titled "Towards more interpretable graphs and Knowledge Graph algorithms" in 2022. This thesis is situated within the context of Artificial Intelligence, focusing on the explainability of models based on Graphs and Knowledge Graphs. He graduated in Computer Engineering from the University of Deusto in 2017 and later completed the Master’s Degree in Computer Engineering at the same university in 2019. Simultaneously, Unai began working as a Research Intern at DeustoTech in 2016, supporting tasks and completing his Bachelor’s and Master’s Final Projects within various national and European projects, such as WeLive (an H2020 project) and Foodbar.
Currently, his research focuses on Artificial Intelligence applied to the healthcare field, where Unai participates in several projects, including IDEA4RC, PROTECT-CHILD, and Inception. In these projects, he develops data models and Natural Language Processing algorithms aimed at leveraging data within ecosystems associated with healthcare.
Since 2022, Unai has complemented his research activities with teaching engagements at the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Deusto. He has taught several courses, including Intelligent Systems, Software Design and Development, and Algorithmics. Additionally, he contributes to other academic activities, such as supervising Bachelor’s Final Projects.
