Arja Helena graduated as biologist (ecology) in University of Oulu, Finland, in 1986 and as veterinarian in Swedish University of Agriculture, Uppsala, in 1993. She graduated as Swedish specialist in food safety 2006 and as Diplomate in ECVPH 2019. She has been working as a veterinarian and head of veterinary clinics, 1993-2001. Meat inspection, food control , implementing the EU legislation and development of control has been a part of her curriculum in Swedish Food Agency in many ways since 1996. Since 2012 she is working with control analysis and especially modernization of meat inspection with focus on meat safety, resilience and sustainability. Since 2020 she is associated to Institute of Biomedical Sciences and Vet. Public Health in SLU, Ultuna. She is also member of Cost- Action groups RIBMINS and SafeGameMeat. In her spear time she is a beekeeper, hunter and takes care of the farm with forest in Västerbotten, Sweden.
