Bernard is a veterinarian with postgraduate training in epidemiology. He works with the International Livestock Research Institute as a scientist. His interests are on transmission patterns of emerging and re-emerging zoonotic diseases. His current project looks at factors that promote co-infection of selected zoonoses in humans, livestock and wildlife.
