Stara Zagora - a green, modern and dynamic European city
Stara Zagora is one of the most developed economic centers in the country with leading Bulgarian and south-eastern European companies in the field of mining, energy, mechanical engineering, electronics, health care, food industry, woodworking, textile and automotive industries. The city's economy is among the leaders in terms of value of the production produced and attracts a relatively large volume of investment, which has increased by 5% compared to the previous year. Industry is the largest sector with respect to GVA. Stara Zagora has a very good potential for the development of R&D activities, automotive, ICT and agriculture sectors.

Local taxes and fees are among the lowest in Bulgaria, the city has a large number of available office spaces, and the construction of new buildings increases every year and in terms of the indicator price per square meter is among the best performers as regard to other 5 major cities in the country. The local administration offers shortened and fast track services. The municipality can also boast of a special unit for providing additional support to investors, called "Investment" department.

In 2020, a new vocational high school in computer science and mathematical analysis began accepting its first students, and new disciplines in this field were presented at Trakia University. The Municipality of Stara Zagora is evaluated by the Association for Innovation, Business Services and Technologies as a location that has very good potential for the development of the information technology sector.

Stara Zagora offers well-trained and highly qualified staff to meet the business needs. Almost 40% of the population speaks a Western language, which is a favorable advantage for foreign companies. According to NSI data, 60.3% of the population is in working age.
