This panel takes as point of departure the global need to speed up processes of responding to climate change, with a specific focus on climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction initatives. It asks questions on what opportunities and challenges such projects encounter when seeking to safeguard democratic spaces in their work. Who has a say? How can we ensure public participation in planning for climatic changes? The panel will engage with the role of human rights in this context.
