Same struggles different chains. Passed

Thursday November 15, 2018 14:00 - 14:30 Lilla scen

Sweden is commended for laws safeguarding human rights, yet for LGBT refugees and asylum seekers discrimination, exclusion and isolation are an undeniable reality. For instance  a 2017 inquiry on Trans and gender diverse  peoples lives  reveals the community experiences more harassment, degrading treatment and discrimination than the general population, adding that many feel invisibilised in society and suicidal thoughts and attempts are more common than the general population.

The Incessant harassment ,violence and  multiple-discriminations  compromises the lives and mental health of   LGBTQ asylum seekers. The situation is even worse for  Trans and gender diverse asylum seekers who encounter a myriad of challenges from migration system to the streets.

The discussion will delve into the lived realities of  Trans refugees, asylum seekers and people of colour  in Sweden.
