Lecturer: Åke Axelsson
Moderator: Hanna Nova Beatrice

We visit the iconic Swedish interior architect, cabinet maker and furniture designer Åke Axelsson (b. 1932) in his atelier and workshop outside of Stockholm. Axelsson has designed and built more than 200 chair models during his 60-year career. His main focus has been interiors for spaces where we can meet, be it libraries, restaurants, town halls or churches, museums and cafés. His furnitures were often born out of specific interiors and then put in production, but he has also focused on producing as sustainable and resourceful furniture as possible. The exhibition TALKING TO ÅKE (4/2-27/3) invites Axelsson and a number of younger designers, Halleroed, Färg & Blanche, Folkform, Emma Olbers and David Ericsson, to a design dialogue at Sven-Harrys Konstmuseum. The exhibition a collaboration between Sven-Harrys Konstmuseum and Stockholm Design Week and is curated by Hanna Nova Beatrice.
