Vestre Viken Hospital trust has received 10 million Norwegian kroner from Innovation Norway to establish an Innovation Partnership, to develop, together with the market, a secure innovative solution for video calls with the emergency medical call center (113). Seeing the same as the caller can prevent misunderstandings that can lead to loss of life, and give the operator at the medical call center a better understanding of the situation. Misunderstandings may arise due to linguistic challenges, lack of description of location and other communication challenges. Video calls can potentially be lifesaving in situations where caller misunderstand the guidance given, such as how to perform cardio-pulmonary rescue (CPR). Video calls will also contribute to increased patient satisfaction, trust and perceived security for the callers. For callers with reduced language, children and people with reduced hearing, video calls can also lead to better communication, health care and guidance. Employees at the medical call center will experience being able to get more accurate information about an instant help situation and provide better help through video calls.
