Violations of human rights and international law occur daily in Western Sahara and Palestine. The illegal occupations by Morocco and Israel have affected Sahrawis and Palestinians lives for decades. How is the current human rights situation in these territories? What challenges do human rights defenders face? Whose responsibility is it to stand up for and realize the human rights for the people of Western Sahara and Palestine?

In this seminar on the Western Sahara and Palestine occupations, we will discuss how Sahrawis and Palestinians organize themselves, the responsibility of the outside world, international law and political influence. Parallels between these two conflicts will be analyzed and also the actions by the international community, such as the European Union, the United States and Sweden.

The aim of this seminar is to increase understandings about the human rights situation in Western Sahara and Palestine. Also, to create interest and discussions concerning this topic in order to raise global awareness of the ongoing human rights violations in occupied territories.
