This contribution describes and evaluates the existing flood prevention planning of the city of Igoumenitsa in North Western Greece. Initially, the main methods and elements that have been used to design flood prevention projects in the aforementioned area are presented in order to compare their relation with the methodology and the data given in the approved Risk Management Plan of the Epirus Water District. The main stream segments closest to the city and the main flood events that have occurred in the area in recent years were recorded and presented. Also, rainfall IDF curves, of the area, based on the uniform approach proposed by the approved Flood Risk Management Plans are also elaborated. Based on the above analysis, a synthesis and an evaluation of the existing flood prevention plan of the city of Igoumenitsa is made.
