Civil society in Central Asia [explainer clip]

After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the international community encouraged countries in Central Asia to develop strong, representative, and inclusive civil society. However, civil society in Central Asia did not form itself as expected. This explainer clip discusses the development of civil society in Central Asia, challenges that non-governmental organizations have been facing around Central Asia and what prerequisites are necessary for successful democratization.
