Icelandic Salmon is the holding company of Arnarlax, the largest salmon farming company on Iceland, with an estimated production of ~14k tonnes HOG in 2021e. Arnarlax was incorporated in 2009 in the West Fjords, Iceland, and first harvest took place in 2016. The company is vertically integrated with its own hatcheries, sea sites, well boat, processing plant and sales channel. In June 2016, Arnarlax acquired neighbour company Fjarðalax, becoming the undisputed leader in Icelandic salmon farming in terms of volume. The company has several organic investment opportunities, including investments in equipment and biomass to grow within its existing licenses.
The company has two freshwater facilities with a combined capacity of 3.2m smolt, and have also recently bought two new smolt facilities with a potential of 1.5m smolt in totalt to meet the growing need for smolt within its growth plan. As of now the company has sites located in three different fjords with a total production capacity of around 25k tonnes. Including outstanding applications, the company has the potential for ~40k tonnes. The company aims to produce 30.5k tonnes in 2024e, which will be almost three times higher than the 11k tonnes the company produced in 2020.
