Nordic Halibut is a halibut farmer with a fully integrated value chain located in Norway. The company had a production of 300 tonnes in 2020 but aims to grow production to 9k tonnes by 2030 after several growth initiatives. Nordic Halibut was listed on Euronext Growth in April 2021.
Nordic Halibut was founded in 1995 and is one of the pioneers within halibut farming. The company started its operations in Austevoll outside of Bergen but has later established most of the company at the north west coast of Norway. The company still has its juvenile facility in Austevoll, but both the broodfish facility, the land based on-growing facility and the sea sites are located on the north west coast of Norway. The company is currently harvesting the fish at a third-party processor nearby the farming sites, while the sales team is located in Bergen.
Nordic Halibut is one of two integrated Halibut farming companies in Norway today. The company is now at its third generation broodstock but is soon moving over to the fourth generation. The value chain is today scaled for a 4.5k tonnes production after installation of two new grow-out farms. Longer term the company plan to increase the juvenile and on-growing capacity by building a new facility at Averøy. The company is also planning to increase the VAP processing capacity by building a new VAP line at the third-party processing facility. This will make it possible to make more consumer-friendly products, which also will be more suitable for retail.
