Salmon Evolution is a Norwegian land-based salmon farming company founded in 2017. The company is in the process of building its first facility at Indre Harøy in Møre og Romsdal, and recently established a JV with Dongwon for a construction of a facility in South Korea.
Salmon Evolution uses a hybrid flow-through technology, with 65-70% recirculation of water and 30-35% flow through. The facility in Norway will have a capacity of 31.5k tonnes HOG and the company has a global expansion plan targeting total production of approximately 70k tonnes annually in the medium- to long-term horizon. This comprises further expansion of the 31k tonnes facility at Indre Harøy (+20kt) and entry into the Asian market (+20kt) in cooperation with Dongwon who has a NOK 50m (5.3%) ownership in Salmon Evolution. The facility in South Korea will start construction in 2022, and total capacity is expected to be ~17kt.
