Benchmark was founded in 2000 with the goal of creating a sustainable future for global food production. The company brings together knowledge of advanced nutrition, breeding & genetics and health products. The company started as an animal health company but through acquisitions of Stofnfiskur, Salmobreed and INVE Aquaculture, the aquaculture industry has become the major part of Benchmark Holdings’ operations. After sale of several non-core business segments, aquaculture is today to sole focus area.
Benchmark currently operates within three business segments. The Health division offers animal health products to the global aquaculture industry, with introduction of a new sea lice treatment system the key focus area. Genetics develop robust genetic material to build the foundations of a sustainable aquaculture industry with salmon as the main specie at the moment, but with an increased focus also on shrimp and the company has launched a shrimp genetics program. The Advanced Nutrition division mainly consists of INVE, a company that produce feed for early stage fish and shrimps, with sale of Artemia the main revenue driver.
