Demographic trends: Youth as opportunity for change

This year marks a decade since the large-scale Arab Spring protests took place. In 2011, mass protests spread from country to country in the Middle East and North Africa. People were tired of corrupt politicians, unemployment, and political injustices – and therefore demanded transparency, better living conditions, and democracy. What has happened in the region in the decade since the protests started? What improvements were made and what challenges remain?
