Stolt Sea Farm

Stolt Sea Farm is a land-based fish farming company producing turbot and sole in its 14 farms across 5 different countries in Europe. The company is a part of the Stolt-Nielsen group, which is listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange.

SSF was founded in 1972 as a supplier of salmon juveniles and quickly became a diversified fish farmer through organic and inorganic growth, with production of species such as sole, turbot, salmon, sturgeon and bluefin, to mention some. In 2004, SSF and Nutreco merged most of their marine cultivation and production activities for cod, sturgeon, halibut, salmon, tilapia and marine trout. The merger led to the creation of the world’s leading aquaculture company Marine Harvest. Later, in 2006, SSF divested its Marine Harvest holdings, and additional divestments of other segments followed as SSF narrowed its focus to the species cultivated on land - sole and turbot. Today SSF only produce these two species and is one of Europe’s largest farmer within turbot and sole. The company has extensive experience in land-based fish farming with over 30 years of experience with turbot farming, and over 10 years of sole farming.

Today, SSF is a fully integrated turbot and sole producer, all the way from R&D to sales & marketing. The company is self-supplied on juveniles from its two hatcheries and owns 14 land-based facilities and one processing plant. SSF sells its turbot and sole through its brands Prodemar, King Sole and King Turbot.
