SISP ENERGY DAY OPENING CEREMONY

Introductory remarks from the Embassy of Sweden and Business Sweden will set the scene for Energy Day, led by Marina Berg (Ambassador of Sweden to Indonesia, Timor-Leste and ASEAN) and Erik Odar (Trade Commissioner of Sweden to Indonesia).

SIGNING CEREMONY

Two signing ceremonies will take place under the morning session. A signing ceremony between Business Sweden and PLN showcasing collaboration within the field renewable energy research, and between Swedfund and PLN (System Planning) on a grant study to improve the Java-Madura-Bali grid to enable renewable energy. The cooperation will be solidified through an MoU testified by Marina Berg (Ambassador of Sweden to Indonesia, Timor-Leste and ASEAN).

STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP TOWARD RENEWABLE ENERGY DEVELOPMENT IN INDONESIA

Sweden and Indonesia have collaborated on energy issues since 2017, with an MoU as the vehicle for Indonesia to meet its ambitious Net Zero Emission (NZE) goal by 2060. By understanding key opportunities and challenges within Indonesia’s renewable energy sector from a cross-collaborative perspective, this session aims to drive Indonesia’s renewable energy potential further through increased bilateral cooperation. Best practices from Sweden’s transformation from a heavily fossil fuel dependent country to one of the world’s greenest countries will be shared, fostering opportunity for Swedish and Indonesian stakeholders to create concrete collective action in reducing greenhouse gas emissions in Indonesia.

SMART GRID: SMART GRID DEVELOPMENT AS AN ENABLER FOR SUSTAINABLE ENERGY

Smart grid technology is on high demand in Indonesia, where outages and losses still frequently happen. Specific areas requiring premium quality and reliability of electricity has given rise to niche opportunities for the development of smart grids in Indonesia. This focus group session will highlight opportunities within the field of smart grid with PLN and other utility companies.

BLUE ENERGY: NURTURING THE ECOSYSTEM FOR OCEAN ENERGY DEVELOPMENT

In 2021, Indonesia and Sweden signed a joint statement agreeing to collaborate and develop a roadmap for a blue economy as a source of economic growth. This focus group will explore concrete opportunities for collaboration between Swedish and Indonesian stakeholders, aside from PLN, within the field of ocean energy. Potential off takers will include actors from the fishery industry, tourism industry, industrial estate industry and more.

GREEN ENERGY: INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS FOR SUSTAINABLE ENERGY IN INDONESIA

The world has provided enormous resources for the sake of energy, more than humankind needs. This requires an innovative solution in extracting energy for human welfare. Sweden has proven track as the most innovative country, including within the field of energy. Long lists of energy company names are nurtured in the Swedish innovative ecosystem. This discussion will explore how this innovative ecosystem may take influence in Indonesia, which in turn will enable Indonesia to turn renewable energy potential to support the welfare of Indonesia's growing population.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY: ENERGY EFFICIENCY AS A KEY TO BECOMING A GLOBAL MANUFACTURING LEADER

Indonesia has the ambition to become the fifth largest economy by 2030. Given that the manufacturing industry accounts for the second-highest share of national energy consumption, energy efficiency in the industrial sector is pivotal. The manufacturing industry plays a vital role in the country’s social and economic development while conservation is one of the pillars of Indonesia’s vision. This session aims to uncover how Swedish companies can support Indonesia’s vision to be a global leader in manufacturing.

HEAT EFFICIENCY: INNOVATION FOR REDUCING AND RECOVERING HEAT POWER WITHIN INDUSTRY

Heating is one of the largest energy-consuming processes in manufacturing businesses. Increased efficiency in the heating process will lead towards better energy efficiency in various sectors, such as in food and beverages, textile, chemicals, and pulp and paper industries. This session will discuss how technologies can enable businesses to this aim, resulting in reduced energy bills and CO2 footprint.

INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS FOR LOW EMISSION DEVELOPMENT

Amongst energy leaders and Indonesian decision makers, this panel discussion will stir dialogue on concrete points of action which stakeholders can take to increase energy efficiency within various sectors (e.g., building and industrial sector). The dialogue will help foster utilization of efficient industrial devices and equipment for Indonesian manufacturing competitiveness and carbon reduction from buildings.

SIGNING CEREMONY

A signing ceremony showcasing collaboration between Swedish and Indonesian stakeholders within the field of sustainable energy will be solidified through MoUs and be testified by Marina Berg (Ambassador of Sweden to Indonesia, Timor-Leste and ASEAN).

GREEN FINANCING TO ACCELERATE SUSTAINABLE ENERGY DEVELOPMENT IN INDONESIA

As the Indonesian government aims to bring investments to green the economy, it is vital to understand the role of finance for sustainable energy transition. This session will discuss a variety of financial solutions to power the green transition within the field of energy, including understanding requirements for each respective financing solution. SEK and EKN, two Swedish government-backed organizations that facilitate and finance Swedish exports, will share information regarding export credit opportunities in Indonesia. The session will showcase best practices within financing energy projects with the goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
