Presentation
Odfjell Oceanwind aims to operate, own, and develop a fleet consisting of floating Mobile Offshore Wind Units (MOWUs). Its target is to deliver electricity to off-grid or micro-grid customers, who today often are powered by fossil fuel. Odfjell Oceanwind is a result of Odfjell Drilling’s investment in Oceanwind in august 2020. The company also has entered a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Siemens Gamesa and Siemens Energy, which secures proven competence and solutions by large players within both offshore wind and drilling.Odfjell Oceanwind’s business model is to lease its floating turbines to a customer, and when a customer’s rental period is finished, they move the MOWU to the next location. Thus, its assets are reused. Typically, its assets are suited to Oil & Gas installations that requires higher amounts of power for a limited period. The company aims to be a part of the Oil & Gas industry’s target to cut CO2 emissions by 50% within 2030, and its solutions enables a reduction of up to 70% compared to conventional fossil fuel-powered production, according to the company.
